Blogs or Weblogs can be considered as excellent tools to promote writing among EFL/ESL students. My intention is to suggest some possible activities to use them with our students as well as providing teachers with some links to excellent resources on blogging.

- Possible activities using Blogs:

1. VocBlog :Students are asked to find a word (new for them)starting or ending with a given letter combination. They should post the word, a definition and a sentence. Challenge changes every week...

2. Sound trigger for a setting : Students are provided with a sound file, this being either a sentences or a simple noise, music bit, etc.. They are asked to write a setting for that sound, either a conversation in which that sentence could be included, a description of a situation, a short story... After scheduled time given, they can take part in a poll to vote the best setting for the sound.
